Installing wxETI Once you have downloaded the installer, simply run it. It will install wxETI and any files needed to run it in the default directory for the given OS. It will also produce a desktop icon for your convenience. The current version needs Exiftool installed to even start. The simplest way to get started is to download the Exiftool installer version for your OS produced by Oliver Betz at: https://oliverbetz.de/pages/Artikel/ExifTool-for-Windows This is the version which is used for testing and development and hence the most likely version not to cause any issues. Simply install it "For all users" to the default location under Windows, and all should work as expected. After a new installation, or if Exiftool has been deleted or moved, wxETI will try to find Exiftool. It will search for the executable in several predefined location and carry on if it is found. If Exiftool is not found in the default locations searched, wxETI will display a dialog to inform you where it did search and offer you a choice. If Exiftool is not installed, click on 'Exit' when wxETI displays the dialog. You can then install the Exiftool package of your choice. If you install Phil Harvey's package, you will have to take note of the location where you install it, or if you decide to move the executable to a different location. If you install the package provided by Oliver Betz, it will install the executable to the default location for the OS (32 or 64-bit) and wxETI will find it the next time it is started. If you know whether and where Exiftool is installed, when the dialog is displayed, you can click on 'Locate' and then navigate to the location where Exiftool.exe is installed. As a third option you can set the Environmnt variable EXIFTOO_PATH to contain the full path to Exiftool. This can contain either the path only, or the path along with the executable name and extension. Uninstalling wxETI In case you want to uninstall wxETI from your machine, simply run the uninstall entry from the start menu. All files, except the .INI and log file, if any, will be removed. If you decided to not use the program any longer, you can remove the whole directory, although in that case you would have to reconfigure the program again, if you decide to use it again later. As well, you may want to remove Exiftool if you do not need it for other work. Running the Program: Simply invoke the executable by doble-clicking on the desktop icon. This information is also provided in the help system.
